Hannah's Favourite Barn Venues in Surrey & Sussex...

gildings.jpg

Barn venues continue to go from strength to strength in popularity. Year in and year out, barns dominate the wedding industry for their charm, their style, their ability to be relaxed yet formal - it’s safe to say, barn wedding venues aren’t going anywhere!

As a Surrey based bridal boutique on the borders of West Sussex, we have our fair share of barn venues right on our doorstep. We are recommended at several of them, but there really are so many options for couples to choose from. A barn could be super rustic and utterly charming a la ‘barn dance’ vibes. It could be a restored barn with slate floors, swanky lighting and a real modern feel to it.

For our future brides and their partners, we have put together a list of the best barn wedding venues in Surrey and Sussex to make your search a little easier.

SURREY

GATE STREET BARN

One of the counties most popular barn venues without doubt, Gate Street benefits from being a dry hire barn with a preferred partners list, giving you the choice of catering companies. Choose your style of catering to fit your wedding brief and build your day from the ground up. Quaint and charming from the outside, with a unique blend of traditional and contemporary inside. The extended bar area is exceptional and the features speak for themselves.

GILDINGS BARN

Rustic, traditional and utterly charming, Gildings Barn is undeniably one of Surrey’s most loved barn venues. Built in the 1990’s in an historic fashion by the current owners father who studied the archaic techniques of building traditional barns (he nailed it by the way) this barn has everything you could want for a rural and relaxed celebration.

BURFORD BRIDGE

One of few barn venues to benefit from a large hotel adjoining it’s striking interiors. Nestled at the base of the famous Box Hill, Burford Bridge has a unique interior with a stunning fitted bar area with sofas for evening lounging. Inside the barn, dine under original beams taken from the Spanish Armada in the 11th century. Truly a piece of history in our very own beautiful countryside.

THE TITHE BARN (ok, so technically this is Hampshire but it’s too friggin’ beautiful not to include!)

The Tithe Barn nestles under beech hangers close to the South Downs Way at Old Ditcham Farm, on the border of Hampshire and West Sussex.

The hamlet of Ditcham dates back to Saxon times. The lands were given to the Abbey of Durford by the Lord of the Manor of Harting in 1273.

The Barn appears and disappears from maps over the centuries and the origin of the present building is shrouded in mystery. What we do know is that the Barn was originally of cruciate form, and it has been returned to this condition.
